Journey to the Cross – Surrendered Hearts, Steadfast Faith

As we get closer to the cross, Lent becomes more intense, March serves as a reminder that being a follower of Christ requires daily surrender and is not passive.

Our hearts are brought into alignment with God’s will, pride is humbled, and distractions are eliminated on the path to Calvary.

Jesus obeyed completely as he made his way to the cross. Despite knowing the price, he decided not to give up. We are encouraged to follow that same path during Lent—not in hopelessness, but in devotion.

Setting aside our personal goals and fully relying on God, even when things seem difficult, are hallmarks of true discipleship. We learn this season that strength comes from surrender. We create space for God’s power when we relinquish control. Grace comes to us when we turn from sin and confess. We become closer to Christ when we give up ourselves.

The cross is a doorway to change as well as a symbol of suffering. Don’t oppose this season’s refining efforts. Allow God to reveal what needs to be healed. Allow Him to soften the hardened things. Allow Him to fortify what has become feeble. The goal of Lent is to put your heart before God, not to be perfect.

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
– Luke 9:23
